Grigory Sokolov

The traditional October event for piano lovers.

The annual concert with pianist Grigory Sokolov is a seasonal highlight for many listeners. He is among the small troupe of soloists that raises music to new heights every time, even managing to surprise the choosiest of audiences. With only two exceptions, he has performed an annual concert at Konserthuset Stockholm since 2004.

Every concert with Sokolov is unique in its own way, for while his technique is utterly peerless, he rarely adheres to a template for piano virtuosos. Among much more, he is known for his ability to draw an unusually broad spectrum of colours and sounds from the keys.

KonserthusetPlay – Beethoven Symphony No 3!
The first powerful chords in Beethoven’s Symphony No. 3 – the Eroica – are clear: we can expect a grand symphony about heroic bravery. Experience the Royal Stockholm Philharmonic Orchestra under the baton of Finnish conductor John Storgårds in this concert video on KonserthusetPlay. Listen

KonserthusetPlay – Beethoven Symphony No 5!
Ludwig van Beethoven’s Fifth Symphony, the Fate Symphony, is one of the greatest masterpieces of music history. This dramatic and extroverted piece is a gateway to classical music for many people. Listen
