Rising Stars – Peter Moore

A weekend of chamber music with tomorrow’s stars.

Don’t miss the opportunity to hear tomorrow’s classical music stars today. In a unique and forward-looking partnership between 21 of Europe’s leading concert halls, six young musicians and ensembles from various countries are selected each year and given the opportunity to tour all of the concert halls and perform before an international audience. Experience shows that those who are selected as Rising Stars have internationally successful careers.

At the age of twelve, trombone player Peter Moore became the youngest winner ever of the BBC Young Musician Competition. At eighteen, he was appointed alternate principal trombone player of the London Symphony Orchestra. In recent years, he has appeared as a soloist with ensembles including the BBC Symphony and BBC National Orchestra of Wales, Ulster Orchestra and Lucerne Symphony Orchestra.  He has also debuted at Wigmore Hall in London and appeared in numerous international festivals. At this concert, he will present among other things a newly composed piece by British composer Roxanna Panufnik, commissioned especially for the Rising Stars tour. Accompaniment will be provided by the much-discussed young pianist James Baillieu, who was born in South Africa and studied in Cape Town and then at the Royal Academy of Music in London.

Nominated by Barbican Centre London.
