Grigory Sokolov
Enchanting piano performance with a popular revisit.
The annual concert with pianist Grigory Sokolov is a seasonal highlight for many listeners. With only two exceptions, he has performed an annual October concert at Konserthuset Stockholm since 2004.
Every concert with Sokolov is unique in its own way, for while his technique is utterly peerless, he rarely adheres to a template for piano virtuosos. Among much more, he is known for his ability to draw an unusually broad spectrum of colours and sounds from the keys. At his concert in autumn 2018, he captivated the audience with sonatas by Beethoven, impromptus by Schubert and no fewer than six encore numbers by Rameau, Schubert, Scriabin and Debussy.
