Harp and cello
Soup concert with a shimmering harp solo and a world premiere.
Laura Stephenson is the Royal Stockholm Philharmonic Orchestra’s harpist and here, she will perform an original programme and is joined by cellist Daniel Holst.
Painterly sounds also tinge Hindemith’s Sonata, in which the final movement is a slowly advancing and beautifully melancholy song of sadness. This is followed by a piece by Canadian harpist and composer Caroline Lizotte.
Trombone player and composer Ivo Nilsson debuted in 1989 as a soloist with the Swedish Radio Symphony Orchestra. That same year, he debuted as a composer with a world premiere with Radio France after studying composition at IRCAM in Paris. The new piece Contrarpa for solo harp is a relative of his critically acclaimed trio Controra.
The programme is concluded with music by Johann Sebastian Bach, in an arrangement for harp and cello.
