Three young ensembles
Concert with the RSPO Orchestra Academy, Orphei strängar and the Music Conservatory of Falun.
Since 2016, the Royal Stockholm Philharmonic Orchestra (RSPO) offers one year of training on site at Konserthuset Stockholm. The RSPO Orchestra Academy aims to give participating musicians heightened knowledge and understanding of the profession. The young musicians receive individual tuition on their instrument by tutors that are predominantly leaders and principals of the orchestra.
In addition, extensive chamber music playing is a vital part of the course. Here in a joint concert with musicians from the Music Conservartory of Falun and Orphei strängar (Orpheus’ Strings), a string orchestra from kulturskolan (school of the arts) in Uppsala.
In a varied programme with focus on strings we hear popular and well-known pieces by for instance Johannes Brahms, Heitor VIlla-Lobos, Karl Jenkins and Edvard Grieg. There is also a relatively new piece by American composer Caroline Shaw – her Entr’acte was inspired by music by Haydn.
