Bach / Pärt
The Eric Ericson Chamber Choir performs music by two great masters.
Eric Ericson’s Chamber Choir performs music by Johann Sebastian Bach and Arvo Pärt side by side. In both cases, the music is spiritual and comforting, albeit from different times and environments. Here, three of Bach's masterful motets are interspersed with Pärt’s unique music.
Bach considered music to be a shortcut to God, an expression of the fact that humans belong to an eternal, divine order. And like Bach, Pärt seeks the human common denominator in music. Pärt believes that ”music is eternal like life”, and he has developed a very personal, spiritual and sensual musical language – where silence also plays an important part.
The Eric Ericson Chamber Choir was founded in 1945 by Eric Ericson, and since then it has taken a central role in the Swedish and international music scenes. For generations of Swedish composers, “the Chamber Choir” was the ideal ensemble, with its typical Nordic sound and virtuosity.
The Eric Ericson Chamber Choir and Royal Stockholm Philharmonic Orchestra have enjoyed a close partnership since 2003.
