Soup Concert with new String Quartets

Two works by young American composers.

American composer Gabriella Smith has been described as one of the most exciting and innovative composers of today. At Konserthuset, we have previously heard her stirring Carrot Revolution for string quartet. This is yet another string quartet: Porcupine Wash, in reference to the location in the desert, east and inland from Los Angeles.

From the American west coast to the east coast. Caroline Shaw was born in North Carolina, and her work depicts the museum and research centre Dumbarton Oaks in Washington, D.C. The title Plan & Elevation is in reference to an architect’s portrayal of a building and its surroundings, and Shaw’s music is a personal stroll through the property’s garden.

Both American works are performed by a string quartet from the Royal Stockholm Philharmonic Orchestra. Violinists Daniela Bonfiglioli and Sofie Sunnerstam are members of the first violin section, Lauriane Dahlkvist of the viola section and Josep Castanyer Alonso is a member of the cello section.

***

Menu: Roasted corn soup with bell pepper and garlic. The soup comes with sourdough bread, crisp bread and whipped butter, as well as a beverage, coffee/tea and a small biscuit. All soups are lactose- and gluten-free. Notify us of any special dietary requests when making your booking.
