Genre: Chamber music

Soup Concert with cello and piano

German and French romantic music. Pieces for cello and piano by Clara Schumann and César Franck.

Clara Schumann’s Three Romances are filled with idyllic beauty, melancholy, and glowing warmth. They were originally composed for violin and piano and are dedicated to legendary violinist Joseph Joachim, whom Clara regularly accompanied. César Franck’s Sonata was also originally composed for violin and piano. It quickly gained popularity and was arranged for several different instruments, but the only version approved by Franck was the arrangement for cello and piano.

Josep Castanyer Alonso has been a member of the Royal Stockholm Philharmonic Orchestra’s cello section since 2019. He often participates in different chamber music ensembles in both Sweden and internationally. Josep was the first student from the Royal Stockholm Philharmonic Orchestra’s Orchestra Academy to also take a seat in the orchestra.

He performs together with Magnus Svensson, artistic director of Konserthuset’s Lied Evenings. He gives concerts in the Nordic region and elsewhere in Europe, and has also performed in Russia and the US. Since 2012, he has also worked at the Royal Swedish Academy of Music with re-publishing older Swedish music.
