Soup with winds and percussion

A winding musical journey from the Renaissance to the present.

Three wind players and a percussionist from the Royal Stockholm Philharmonic Orchestra present music ranging from Monteverdi to Joakim Agnas, who is the orchestra's principal trumpeter and also a composer. In between, a wide spectrum includes Mozart's famous variations on Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star and Folke Rabe's (1935–2017) Basta for solo trombone, a modern classic showcasing the trombone's virtuoso capabilities.

Two Americans are also featured on the program: Stan Friedman with his imaginative Solus for solo trumpet and the innovative Charles Ives with From the Steeples and the Mountains for trumpet, trombone, and percussion.

In addition to Joakim Agnas, the concert features Karl Frisendahl, principal trombonist, the Royal Stockholm Philharmonic Orchestra's percussionist Anders Haag, and guest trumpeter Jonas Lindeborg.
