Summer exhibition – The Red Heart

A photo exhibition by Yanan Li.

Photographer Yanan Li moved from China to Sweden in 2000, drawn by the famous Hasselblad camera whose characteristic shutter sound awakened his interest while studying film photography in Beijing. He is now one of few photographers who work closely with Hasselblad, with several prominent clients.

In autumn 2019, Yanan Li was asked to photograph Konserthuset’s building and activities. When the pandemic struck in 2020, he continued to photograph how the music thrived through livestreams and concerts, or concerts held for small audiences.

The summer exhibition presents about one hundred of Yanan Li’s photographs from this period – offering insight into how Konserthuset continued to offer vitality, community and hope in a trying time.

The heart of music continued to beat. The red heart was also architect Ivar Tengbom’s name of his vision for Konserthuset – this winning suggestion was brought to fruition nearly 100 years ago.
