KUSTBANDET’S SWING PARTY – Rhythm is our business

External promoter: Kustbandet

Welcome to a jazz-themed journey through time with the legendary Kustbandet orchestra. This fabulous afternoon concert will present an intuitive sense of feeling, skilled instrumentalists and intimate soloists.

Kustbandet is a unique institution in the Swedish music scene that has maintained its style throughout the years. With an unceasing interest in the origins of jazz, the ensemble has also achieved major international successes. With the motto “From Ragtime to Swing”, Kustbandet has performed in around 20 countries over the course of half a century.

The orchestra has established itself as one of the leading performers of the swinging and entertaining Harlem jazz style, which emerged in the era of New York’s swing ballrooms and Chicago’s prohibitionist speakeasies.

Louis Armstrong, Duke Ellington and Count Basie are the most recognizable role models, but Kustbandet has also featured music by less familiar trendsetters, such as Fletcher Henderson, Bix Beiderbecke, Paul Whiteman and Benny Carter.

This spring’s concert at Konserthuset Stockholm will offer everything from “oldies but goodies” to new pieces. We can also look forward to a concert sprinkled with both humour and surprises.
