With its powerful introduction, appealing melodies and explosive virtuosity, Tchaikovsky’s Piano Concerto in B Minor has become one of the most popular pieces of classical music. The soloist at this concert is the young Russian-American pianist Vladislav Kern. He has studied at both the conservatory in Moscow and the Juilliard School of Music in New York, and he won the prestigious Van Cliburn scholarship in 2012. Since 2016 he is also a Young Steinway Artist.
He will be performing with the visiting Golden State Youth Orchestra from California, which consists of top young musicians on their way into a professional career. On this Russian-American programme, in addition to Tchaikovsky’s Piano Concerto, we will hear music by Rimsky-Korsakov, Aaron Copland and George Gershwin.
Vladislav Kern is a Young Steinway Artist and his appearance is generously sponsored by Charles and Doris Michaels
