Grand Finale – Aurora Music Festival
Grand finale with Leonidas Kavakos andJukka-Pekka Saraste
The Aurora Music Festival 2019 in Stockholm is the third festival in Stockholm and the 45th Aurora Festival in Sweden. At this year’s major finale concert, we will see Jukka-Pekka Saraste lead the Aurora Symphony Orchestra once again. He was a major success at last year’s festival, when he conducted Sibelius’ Symphony No. 2. This year he will lead the orchestra in Gustav Mahler’s Symphony No. 1 and Korngold’s Violin Concerto with Leonidas Kavakos as the soloist. Kavakos is among the foremost violin soloist in the world and regularly appears with orchestras such as the Royal Stockholm Philharmonic Orchestra, London Philharmonic Orchestra, London Symphony Orchestra, the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra in Amsterdam, the Chicago Symphony Orchestra and many more.
Here, we will hear him in Korngold’s beautiful Violin Concerto, which is dedicated to the widow of Gustav Mahler, Alma, and was premiered by Jascha Heifetz.
Since 2006, Aurora has gathered thousands of musicians, artists and international stars to perform classical music for over 100,000 listeners.
In cooperation with Aurora Music Festival.
