Djavan

Brazilian star in Sweden for the first time.

Djavan has long been part of Brazil’s Hall of Fame, alongside friends such as Caetano Veloso, Gilberto Gil, Chico Buarque, Gal Costa and Milton Nascimento. With his unique song-writing style, he has an ability to continuously redefine what is called “the people’s music” in Brazil, also known as MPB: Música Popular Brasileira. His fantastic, bold sound blends bossa nova, samba and the rhythms of Bahia with jazz, pop, funk and R&B; Djavan creates a powerfully personal style of music infused with Brazilian charm.

Djavan’s first album, A Voz, O Violão, A Música De Djavan, which was recorded in 1976 and includes the hit Flor de Lis, was the launch of a lifelong career. The follow-up album, Luz from 1982, featured none other than Stevie Wonder as a guest performer on the song Samurai. Djavan’s latest album, D, was released 11 August last year and demonstrates that his musical flame still burns with a seemingly inextinguishable intensity.
