Ukrainian Spring – Pioneering Bach

External organiser: Ukrainian Institute in Sweden

Unique interpretation of an iconic piece

If Johann Sebastian Bach had added religious texts and vocal arrangements to the pieces of his iconic work Das wohltemperierte Klavier, what would it sound like? In a unique and ground-breaking interpretation, inspired by the Ukrainian-born musicologist B. Jaworsky.

Jaworsky, prominent Swedish-Ukrainian pianist Natalya Pasichnyk takes on the role of Bach's co-creator in a new musical work. The words and voices are intertwined with the instrumental. She recently released the CD Rethinking the Well-Tempered Clavier (Navona Records) in which she collaborates with the internationally acclaimed vocal ensemble Calmus from Leipzig, Bach's own home region.

With this performance, Calmus makes its Stockholm debut. The stage design is by the renowned Swedish opera director Mira Bartov.

In cooperation with the Goethe-institutet and Ukrainian Institute in Sweden.
