Soundscapes of Poland – The Swigut Sisters & Friends
About the concert
På svenskaExternal organiser:
Experience the rich and multifaceted world of Polish music in dialogue with Swedish culture. The concert Soundscapes of Poland presents works by leading Polish composers such as Chopin, Wieniawski, Szymanowski and Bacewicz, alongside chamber music for larger ensembles that also includes Swedish repertoire.
Here, the music is placed in a broader context, reflecting questions of national identity, memory and European values. In a time marked by uncertainty and social challenges, the programme highlights music as a bearer of cultural continuity and as an expression of freedom, resilience and community across national borders.
The concert is presented in collaboration with the Embassy of the Republic of Poland in Stockholm and the Polish Institute in Stockholm, and sheds light on shared cultural spaces and artistic encounters between Poland and Sweden.
The evening is led by Agnieszka Świgut, violin, and Aleksandra Świgut, piano, who have played together since childhood and form a duo distinguished by close interplay and artistic unity. The duo enjoys an international career and has appeared in concert halls and festivals in Sweden, Switzerland, Germany, Spain, the USA, Japan and Morocco, among others. They have received several prestigious awards and are admired by audiences and critics alike for their combination of virtuosity, musical depth and communicative presence. Guest musicians also take part, including players from the Royal Swedish Opera Orchestra, which in 2026 celebrates its 500th anniversary.
