Blue House Jazz
Three Fridays at 19.30
Eliane Elias is one of the major stars of the jazz world and multi Grammy-award, most recently this year. As part of this autumn’s jazz subscription, she guest-performs with Konserthuset’s own big band. An entire evening will also be dedicated to a tribute to Oscar Peterson’s legendary music, with performances from some of the ultimate elite jazz musicians. This includes guitarist Ulf Wakenius – who was a member of the Oscar Peterson Quartet. And finally, Dianne Reeves returns with her band. She one of the greatest jazz vocalists of our time, in the tradition of legends like Ella Fitzgerald och Sarah Vaughan.

Earlier this year she was awarded yet another Grammy, for the album Mirror, Mirror in the Best Latin Jazz Album category. It’s a duet recording in which she performs with other iconic pianists like Chick Corea (1941–2021) and Chucho Valdés. Earlier on she has done similar projects with for instance Herbie Hancock. Both her previous albums were awarded too, with Downbeat’s Best Album of the Year to name one example.
Eliane Elias has Brazilian roots but is based in the US, and she combines Latin American traits with virtuosic jazz and classical piano technique into a unique and highly personal mix. Being a pianist, composer, arranger and singer she is multi-talented, but the piano has always been her first love. As of now, she has recorded some 30 albums and toured worldwide.
We welcome Eliane Elias to Konserthuset Stockholm’s very own big band, Blue House Jazz Orchestra, along with the very well-merited American bass player Marc Johnson. As usual, the band is led by Peter Asplund and Magnus Lindgren.

He debuted in the 1970s and became a name through the group Hawk On Flight, of which he was a founding member. The duo Guitars Unlimited, with Peter Almqvist, also received significant attention in the 1980s.
Wakenius has worked with a long line of the world’s leading names in jazz, and in 1997 he joined Oscar Peterson’s acclaimed quartet. Oscar Peterson himself described Ulf Wakenius as one of the greatest guitarists. And many excellent guitarists count themselves among Wakenius’ outspoken admirers, including Pat Metheny, John McLaughlin, John Scofield and Mike Stern.
In a tribute to friend, colleague and source of inspiration Oscar Peterson, we hear Ulf Wakenius together with the versatile Hungarian-Canadian pianist Robi Botos, who has drawn inspiration from Oscar Peterson. We also hear a highly skilled rhythm section consisting of Swedish bassist Hans Backenroth, whose credentials are endless, as well as Lewis Nash on drums, one of the most sought-after musicans in jazz and represented on many hundreds of albums.

She is active in the same tradition as legends like Ella Fitzgerald, Sarah Vaughan, Dinah Washington and Carmen McRae.
Reeves is deeply rooted in classic jazz and blues, but brings the music into modernity with fresh influences and elements. Throughout her career, Dianne Reeves has regularly moved beyond the borders of jazz to intermingle world music and pop with her own autobiographical songs, inspired by African folk music.
Dianne Reeves and her quartet are beloved return guests. They last visited Konserthuset in autumn 2013.
