Father and son Wakenius with Martin Taylor.
Guitar virtuosos Martin Taylor and Ulf and Eric Wakenius begin the autumn jazz subscription with a tribute to Oscar Peterson, Django Reinhardt and more. And incredibly, Martin Taylor has collaborated and performed with legendary violinist Stéphane Grappelli, one of the founders, together with Django Reinhardt, of the French Quintette du Hot Club de France. Martin Taylor is an icon for guitarists worldwide and has received the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire medal from the Queen of England.
Ulf Wakenius is one of Sweden’s most prominent jazz guitarists internationally. He debuted in the 1970s and first appeared with the group Hawk On Flight, of which he was a founding member. Wakenius has worked with many of the world’s top names in jazz, including Niels-Henning Ørsted Pedersen, Pat Metheny, Randy Brecker, Jimmy Rosenberg and many others. In 1997, he became a member of pianist Oscar Peterson’s famous quartet and he has appeared on the most prestigious jazz stages in the world.
Also performing at this concert is Ulf Wakenius’ son, Eric Wakenius, who is well on his way to establishing himself as a radiant international star guitarist.
