Blue House Youth Jazz Festival 2027

Blue House Youth Jazz Festival is a jazz festival for young musicians, featuring bands and orchestras from music schools, upper secondary schools specialising in music, and folk high schools. Over three action-packed days, from Friday to Sunday, the festival offers workshops, seminars and a wealth of concerts. The festival culminates in a day of competitions, with big bands competing in the Main Hall and jazz ensembles in the Grünewald Hall.

The festival was founded in 2001, and several generations of jazz musicians have come together to make music over the years. More than 400 young musicians take part each year. The festival also welcomes guest artists and educators from Sweden and abroad.

Konserthuset Stockholm organises the festival in collaboration with Svensk Jazz and Kulturama. The festival takes place at Konserthuset Stockholm and Kulturama Hammarby Sjöstad.

Practical Information 

Registration for Blue House Youth Jazz Festival in April 2027 opens on 23 November.

The festival is open to young musicians aged approximately 13–21. Participants arrange their own travel and accommodation.

Fee: SEK 950

What's included: A festival experience featuring workshops, concerts and competitions. In addition to the festival's own concerts, the fee includes admission to a concert in the Blue House Jazz series at Konserthuset Stockholm on Friday.

Band leaders or teachers register their interest. First come, first served! There are approximately 400 places available, and registration closes once the festival is fully booked.

Meals included: Refreshments on Friday, lunch and dinner on Saturday, and refreshments on Sunday. The programme below is an outline. A detailed schedule of all festival events will be published at a later date.

Friday 9 April 2027

11.00–13.00 Check-in. Registration of all bands in the foyer of Konserthuset Stockholm (entrance from Hötorget). Participants will receive T-shirts and festival passes. Each band will also receive tickets for Friday's Blue House Jazz concert at Konserthuset Stockholm during the day.

13.45–18.00 Gathering at Konserthuset Stockholm for further information, the opening concert and workshops.

19.30–approx. 22.00 Concert featuring international star artists in the Main Hall at Konserthuset Stockholm.

Saturday 10 April 2027

09.00–22.00 A full day of activities at Kulturama in Hammarby Sjöstad, featuring workshops, seminars and, in the evening, concerts with all participating bands.

Sunday 11 April 2027

09.00–17.00 Competition day. Big bands compete in various categories in the Main Hall, while jazz ensembles compete in the Grünewald Hall. Lunch break from 12.00 to 13.00. The festival provides refreshments and a concert while the jury deliberates, followed by the prize-giving ceremony.
