Orchestra series

Six early evening concerts, each just one hour long – no interval. Perfect if you're curious about trying a subscription! A well-balanced mix of beloved classics and a few delightful surprises.

Great masterpieces by composers including Beethoven, Brahms, Mahler and Richard Strauss. Also featuring outstanding soloists such as Lisa Batiashvili and Asmik Grigorian, an encounter with the legendary Herbert Blomstedt, and two concerts from the spring’s major Beethoven Festival.

Be part of the grand season opening – and experience the legendary Herbert Blomstedt in Bruckner’s magnificent final symphony. This subscription offers many of the great classics, but also music of our time – including the opening of the Composer Festival.

Italian pianist Beatrice Rana returns – this time in Brahms’s magnificent Piano Concerto No. 2. And Canadian violinist James Ehnes is the soloist in Barber’s Violin Concerto – a breathtaking experience awaits. Yes, this series is brimming with outstanding soloists. You can also experience the opening of the autumn Composer Festival.

Hearing Christina Nilsson sing Wagner is an experience – and the same is true of Janine Jansen as soloist in Beethoven’s Violin Concerto. You will also experience a world premiere, as a symphony inspired by Stefan Zweig’s The World of Yesterday receives its first performance.

This richly varied subscription also includes the Composer Festival, Herbert Blomstedt conducting Bruckner, and Handel’s Messiah – in Mozart’s version. And Chief Conductor Ryan Bancroft takes on Allan Pettersson’s Seventh Symphony!

At last, Brahms’s Ein deutsches Requiem returns to Konserthuset in all its full splendour. This subscription offers a vibrant mix, with lively Viennese sounds, ballet music and Beethoven at his most dance-like.

Chamber Music

Pause for a moment. The annual October appearance by the great Grigory Sokolov is a given – a tradition by now – and what about the other pianists on their way: Víkingur Ólafsson, Beatrice Rana, Hélène Grimaud, Lise de la Salle and Seong-Jin Cho ... In this anniversary season, the piano series is something truly special.

Some of the world’s leading string quartets come to Konserthuset. We encounter Sweden’s Stenhammar Quartet, the American Calidore String Quartet, Austria’s Javus Quartett – this season’s ECHO Rising Stars – as well as prize-winning ensembles such as Germany’s Leonkoro Quartett, the Swedish-Norwegian Opus13 and the French Quatuor Ébène.

In this chamber music subscription, we meet our Philharmonic musicians in the beautiful Grünewald Hall. The programmes are full of curiosity and discovery. Expect a wealth of musical gems, both historical and contemporary.

Stop. This season’s Lied series features world-renowned artists such as Asmik Grigorian, Ian Bostridge and Christina Nilsson. Let that sink in. Please note that this series has changed day, and the concerts take place on Tuesdays.

This is the series for those who love early music. Orfeus Barock Stockholm continues to develop imaginative, themed programmes. We also welcome the France-based leading ensemble L’Arpeggiata, under the direction of Christina Pluhar and with Malena Ernman as vocal soloist.

Our popular soup concerts, with soup for lunch or a listener’s seat. Twelve fridays with 45 minutes of music in brilliant programmes, all featuring the philharmonic musicians, and the occasional guest.

45-minute lunchtime concerts with some of Sweden’s finest organists – performing on Konserthuset’s mighty organ, an orchestra in itself. Expect an exciting mix of original organ works and bold arrangements. Jazz? Absolutely.

In Monday at Last, violinist Cecilia Zilliacus and cellist Kati Raitinen create original programmes together with top-tier guest artists from Sweden and abroad. The variation is wide, and the aim is to never ever play the same piece twice.

Jazz

Two of the great stars of our time – Cécile McLorin Salvant and Wynton Marsalis – frame an autumn of jazz worthy of Konserthuset’s centenary celebrations. There is also a tribute to Miles Davis and John Coltrane at 100, conceived by Magnus Lindgren and John Beasley, as well as a long-awaited return from the extraordinary pianist Hiromi.
