Peace on Earth

Welcoming English soprano Ruby Hughes, performing music by Errollyn Wallen, John Tavener and more in a richly varied programme.

String trio ZPR was founded by Cecilia Zilliacus, violin; Johanna Persson, viola; and Kati Raitinen, cello. In Monday at Last ZPR invites guests to explore new and old music together.

On this occasion, ZPR’s Cecilia Zilliacus and Kati Raitinen invited a British and a Swedish guest. Soprano Ruby Hughes studied in England and Germany and has an international career on opera and concert stages alike. Pianist Bengt Forsberg is widely known for his work with Swedish mezzo soprano Anne Sofie von Otter and other prominent singers. As a chamber musician and soloist, he is noted for performing neglected repertory.

The programme includes pieces by a number of women composers, for instance Errollyn Wallen (born 1958), British composer originally from Belize in Central America (the country borders to Mexico and Guatemala), whose music shows a wide stylistic span, from the avant-garde to popular songwriting.
