Christmas Concert

The Royal Stockholm Philharmonic Orchestra, over 200 singers and selected soloists.

Christmas is the holiday of music! Welcome to Konserthuset’s big Christmas concert, a sparkling and wonderful show with many of the beloved classic Christmas songs and favourites from the American tradition.

Together with the Royal Stockholm Philharmonic Orchestra, this year’s concert will feature the acclaimed soprano Sanna Gibbs, who we can see in roles such as Papagena in Mozart’s The Magic Flute, and Musetta in José Cura’s production of Puccini’s La bohème at the Royal Swedish Opera. She will be accompanied on stage by the internationally renowned baritone John Lundberg, constantly in demand in the great Wagner operas. In the summer of 2016, he was the first Swede in 65 years to sing the role of Wotan at the Bayreuth Festival.

The Christmas carols will be extra swinging this year with Samuel Ljungbladh, one of Sweden’s biggest gospel and soul singers. He got the entire royal family to cut loose when he performed at the prince’s wedding in 2015! He is also known from many other TV appearances, including Så ska det låta, a Swedish game show.

Leading the Royal Stockholm Philharmonic Orchestra and the big choir will be Christoffer Holgersson, who has previously appeared, among other places, at the Östersjö Festival with El Sistema and the Gothenburg Symphony Orchestra, members of the Royal Stockholm Philharmonic Orchestra and the Swedish Radio Symphony Orchestra. He is also a choir conductor and the conductor for the Adolf Fredrik Congregation in Stockholm.

Hosting this year’s big Christmas concert is director, scriptwriter, variety performer, comedian, actor and composer Claes Eriksson. As a member of Galenskaparna and After Shave, and from TV series such as Macken, for which he also composed the music, he has portrayed numerous unforgettable comic characters. He also wrote and directed the show Hagmans Konditori, and has given many acclaimed solo performances.
