Soup concert with music by Haydn and Andrée
About the concert
På svenskaJoseph and Elfrida
The Piano Trio in C Major is the first of the three sonatas that Haydn dedicated to piano virtuoso Therese Jansen in 1797. The work shifts in hue and mood, and is inspired by rustic Hungarian folk music. Haydn uses the entire register of the piano here, and the violinist often engages in dialogue with the pianist.
Elfrida Andrée, from the island of Gotland, was Sweden’s first graduated organist and a forerunner for female composers with her symphonic works. She wrote the Piano Quintet at age 24, an achievement that quickly landed her among the Swedish composer elite, which was rather lacking in women at that time.
All musicians are members of the Royal Stockholm Philharmonic Orchestra.
Menu: Yellow beet borscht and salted pork, topped with sour cream.
