Cameron Carpenter

The rockstar virtuoso of the organ world.

American organist and composer Cameron Carpenter defies all myths and assumptions about what a classical organist really is. He resembles a rock star but has the collected organ works of both Bach and César Franck in his repertoire, which also includes soundtracks, newly composed pieces and hundreds of transcriptions of compositions for other instruments.

The expression is worn out, but when it comes to Cameron Carpenter it is difficult to find anything better: he is unique. He turned the entire idea of classical organ-playing upside down when he had his own enormous digital organ built, which he brought with him in 2014 on a comprehensive tour of the US and Europe. At the same time, his album If You Could Read My Mind, with music by Bach, Bernstein, Piazzolla, Burt Bacharach and Carpenter himself sailed straight up Billboard’s chart of top-selling albums in the US. His latest album, All You Need is Bach, is also a phenomenal success and he is the first solo organist to be nominated for a Grammy Award.

Don’t miss this amazing organist who of course, on his visit to Konserthuset Stockholm, brings with him his ITO – International Touring Organ – the specially designed digital five-keyboard organ.
