Innovative chamber music

The Swedish Society of Composers celebrates 100 years.

The Swedish Society of Composers (Föreningen Svenska Tonsättare, FST) was founded in 1918 by around thirty composers who were active at the turn of the last century, including Wilhelm Stenhammar and Helena Munktell. The purpose was and is to safeguard the artistic, financial and social interests of Swedish composers. FST is now celebrating 100 years, and at Konserthuset we are celebrating with two concerts on this day.

In this chamber music programme with live electronics, woodwinds, singing and percussion, generations of composers converge, and much of the music was especially composed for the participating musicians. The music is also performed by some of our most prominent and renowned musicians within new music.

Most pieces were composed in the last 15 years, but we will also hear some examples of works from the 1970s and 80s. The grand doyen of composers in this particular performance, Lars-Gunnar Bodin (born 1935), begins the whimsical and varied anniversary programme.

In partnership with the Swedish Society of Composers.
