Genre: Vocal music

Francine Vis and Matthew Rose

International guests in the last concert of the Lied Concert Subscription.

The Lied Concert Subscription is now in its sixth season. Once again, up close, we will get to see stars from the opera and concert stages of the world. Pianist Magnus Svensson brings to the stage a long line of today’s most acclaimed vocalists, and at this concert we will get to hear the Dutch mezzo soprano Francine Vis and British bass Matthew Rose.

Francine Vis studied in Copenhagen, where she also performed many roles at the Royal Danish Opera, including Cherubino in Mozart’s The Marriage of Figaro and Pernille in Nielsen’s Masquerade. Her repertoire is incredibly broad, spanning from Baroque to the music of our time. She frequently appears as a soloist together with orchestras such as the Concertgebouw Chamber Orchestra, Concerto Copenhagen, Malmö Symphony Orchestra, Helsingborg Symphony Orchestra and the Orchestre de Chambre de Genève.

Matthew Rose has appeared on the majority of the world’s most prestigious opera stages: La Scala in Milan, the Royal Opera House Covent Garden in London, Glyndebourne, the Metropolitan Opera in New York and English National Opera. His many roles have included Sarastro in The Magic Flute and Leporello in Don Giovanni by Mozart, Tutor in Strauss’ Elektra, Don Fernando in Fidelio by Beethoven and many major Wagner and Verdi roles.  Rose also regularly appears in concerts with orchestras such as the London Symphony Orchestra, BBC Symphony Orchestra, Los Angeles Philharmonic and the Vienna Symphony Orchestra.
