Rising Stars – Soup Concert with harp

Nature's music – melodic tones and painterly atmospheres.

When the harp is in focus at this soup concert, it is through music that moves through nature. In Smetana’s piece Moldau, we get to follow the river’s path from the Bohemian mountains down through the Czech countryside towards the city of Prague. Smetana enjoyed walking along the river for inspiration and decided it would have its own movement in his symphonic poem cycle My Homeland. Water nymphs and Czech folk melodies are concealed in the piece, and perhaps also hints of the melody to Ack Värmland Du Sköna.

The Lark is from Glinka’s song cycle A Farewell to Saint Petersburg, and has become very popular with its sweet, yet sorrowful melody. Légende d’après les Elfes from 1903 was inspired by a poem of the same name by French poet Leconte de Lisle. The piece was composed by Henriette Renié, a harpist and composer who lived in great poverty in order to dedicate her life to music. The programme also includes a newly composed piece by the young Camille Pépin, a French composer born in 1990.

A bright future was already obvious for harpist Anaïs Gaudemard from a young age. She has performed with the Lucerne Festival Orchestra, the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra and the Lausanne Chamber Orchestra. She was nominated for Rising Stars by the Cité de la musique/Philharmonie de Paris and the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation Lisbon.
