Summer musicians: Ella Wie
The duo has collected gold nuggets from artists such as Nina Simone, Aretha Franklin and Chaka Khan.
The jazz and soul duo Ella Wie consists of Elsa Westling on piano and vocals and Alma Wikström on double bass and vocals. Ella Wie's repertoire is wide and offers the very best from soul and jazz, with a repertoire that ranges from older classics to forgotten gold nuggets and the completely newly written, self-composed. The concerts include music from artists such as Nina Simone, Joni Mitchell, Esbjörn Svensson, Chaka Khan, Monica Zetterlund and Aretha Franklin.
Every summer since 2010, Konserthuset Stockholm employs young summer musicians to give concerts during the summer season. This year, there are six ensembles, selected after audition, with music students aged 16–19 who five times a day offer varied music in the genres of classical, jazz or vocal in Konserthuset Stockholm’s entrance foyer towards Hötorget. The concerts are about 20 minutes long with free entrance.
