Khatia Buniatishvili
The Georgian pianist returning to Konserthuset Stockholm at last.
Khatia Buniatishvili is one of the world’s most acclaimed and in-demand pianists. She began to play piano at the age of three and performed as a soloist with the Tbilisi State Chamber Orchestra at age six. At age ten, she began performing internationally.
Ten years ago, she debuted at Konserthuset in a concert in Grünewald Hall. That programme included works by Liszt, Chopin and Stravinsky. “Georgian pianist Khatia Buniatishvili seems to be on the threshold of an international career,” wrote Svenska Dagbladet’s reviewer – and it was true.
Khatia Buniatishvili now performs with many of the world’s most prominent orchestras and conductors, and gives recitals to sold-out houses. It is with great joy that we welcome her back – as the star to open Konserthuset’s big piano subscription with. We hear, among many other pieces, Liszt’s marvellously beautiful Consolation No. 3 and Chopin’s emotionally charged Polonaise op 53, the ”heroic”.
