Lied Concert with Pretty Yende

South African soprano Pretty Yende, who makes her debut at Konserthuset Stockholm with this performance, has taken the world by storm in the past decade. She has performed on all of the world’s major opera stages, including the Royal Opera House Covent Garden in London, Opéra National de Paris, Metropolitan Opera, Teatro alla Scala in Milan, Berlin State Opera, Opernhaus Zürich and Gran Teatre del Liceu in Barcelona, as well as concert stages such as Carnegie Hall in New York. She performs in numerous opera recordings, and has a few solo albums in her name.

It is an unusual Lied Concert, this time paying visit to the world of opera – more particularly the loveliest Italian bel canto opera, with heartbreaking arias by Bellini, Rossini and Donizetti.

Versatile pianist Magnus Svensson specialises in the art of lied, and he has served as artistic director of Lied Evenings for several seasons. In addition to concerts in the Nordic region and elsewhere in Europe, he has also performed in Russia and the US. Magnus Svensson obtained his soloist diploma from the Royal College of Music in Stockholm, graduated with honours as top student, and then immersed himself in the study of lied interpretation in London. Since 2012, he has also worked at the Royal Swedish Academy of Music with re-publishing older Swedish music.
