Rising Stars with French Horn

Ben Goldscheider performs music by Beethoven, Jane Vignery and more.

Rising Stars is a unique and forward-looking collaboration between 22 of Europe’s leading concert halls, all members of the European Concert Hall Organisation (ECHO). Six young musicians and ensembles from various countries are selected each year and given the opportunity to tour the concert halls and perform before international audiences.

London-born horn player Ben Goldscheider studied, among other places, at the Barenboim-Said Academy in Berlin. At age 18 in 2016, he was a finalist in the BBC Young Musician Competition, and in 2018 he made his Proms debut and released a critically acclaimed debut album. He has performed as a soloist with orchestras all over Europe, and as a chamber musician he has worked with legends such as Daniel Barenboim and Martha Argerich. He has recently released two albums, one as a soloist with the Philharmonia Orchestra, and one together with pianist and composer Huw Watkins.

At this concert with Italian pianist Giuseppe Guarrera, he performs two classics and two newer pieces – English Mark Simpson’s brand-new, specially composed piece, as well as Belgian Jane Vignery’s horn sonata from 1942.

Ben Goldscheider was nominated for Rising Stars by Barbican Centre London. Don’t miss the opportunity to hear tomorrow’s classical music stars today. Experience shows that those who are selected as Rising Stars also have internationally successful careers.
