Lied Concert with Christina Nilsson

A rising star in music by Liszt, Richard Strauss and more.

With the role of Aida at the Royal Swedish Opera in 2018, Christina Nilsson’s career took off. It was not long before she also had major international successes. In recent seasons, she has portrayed Rosalinde in Die Fledermaus at the Bavarian State Opera in Munich, debuted as Tosca at the Royal Swedish Opera in Stockholm, and sang Aida at Deutsche Oper in Berlin.

Christina Nilsson has performed at Konserthuset Stockholm several times before, and we are thrilled to welcome her back. The richly varied programme includes Rachmaninoff’s hypnotically beautiful Vokalise, Liszt’s three virtuosic and contrast-filled Petrarca Sonettos, as well as a group of songs by Richard Strauss. We also hear British-American composer Rebecca Clarke’s charged and romantic drama, The Seal Man, and contemporary Swedish music: Johan Ullén’s Don’t Go Without Me.

Versatile pianist Magnus Svensson specialises in the art of lied, and he has served as artistic director of Lied Evenings for several seasons. In addition to concerts in the Nordic region and elsewhere in Europe, he has also performed in Russia and the US. Since 2012, he has also worked at the Royal Swedish Academy of Music with re-publishing older Swedish music.
