Lied Concert with Louise Alder

Music by Nadia Boulanger, Mahler, Copland, Fauré and more.

Award-wining British soprano Louise Alder has been described as naturally gifted on stage, with a voice that glitters. She is often in demand on the major international stages and only in recent seasons has she been seen in combinations at the opera in Vienna, the Bavarian State Opera in Munich, Oper Frankfurt, and English Glyndebourne.

The first part of the programme is French-Austrian, with songs by Gabriel Fauré and Nadia Boulanger, and as the leading number, we hear Mahler’s stunningly beautiful Rückert-Lieder. After intermission, the language transitions to English, including American Aaron Copland’s Emily Dickinson song cycle, with distinctive influences from Fauré and Mahler.

Louise Alder performs with versatile pianist Magnus Svensson, who has served as artistic director of Lied Evenings for several seasons. In addition to concerts in the Nordic region and elsewhere in Europe, he has also performed in Russia and the US. Since 2012, he has also worked at the Royal Swedish Academy of Music with re-publishing older Swedish music.

Music by Nadia Boulanger, Mahler, Copland, Fauré and more.
