About the concert

The Royal Stockholm Philharmonic Orchestra’s Orchestra Academy meets the Orchestra Academy of the Lviv National Philharmonic Orchestra. The concert opens the European Festival: Ukrainian Spring.

Since 2016, an orchestra academy has been affiliated with the Royal Stockholm Philharmonic Orchestra. The international RSPO Orchestra Academy is a one-year advanced academic programme for young musicians. The programme is run in collaboration with the Department of Music and Art at Linnaeus University in Växjö. Under the guidance of the Royal Stockholm Philharmonic Orchestra’s section leaders, the musicians receive individual coaching, chamber music training and orchestral experience.

They also showcase their talents through a series of public concerts, as here together with the Orchestra Academy of the Lviv National Philharmonic. It is not only the musical exchange that takes centre stage, but also the encounter between different ways of working, listening and creating together.

This concert marks the beginning of a new international collaboration between leading music institutions in Sweden and Ukraine. At the same time, it is the opening concert of the European Festival: Ukrainian Spring. The concert is conducted by Roman Reznik, with the Ukrainian-Swedish pianist Natalya Pasichnyk as soloist.

The Ukrainian-Swedish repertoire reflects the spirit of the collaboration, and the project forms part of a broader initiative to strengthen Ukraine’s cultural resilience and its long-term integration into the European cultural landscape.

The collaboration project is funded by the Swedish Institute.
