Spirit & Art

The Royal Swedish Academy of Music 250 years – the history and future of Swedish music life.

In this summer's exhibition we celebrate the Royal Swedish Academy of Music's 250th anniversary. The motto "Spirit & art" has followed the academy since 1771 when Gustav III signed the academy's inaugural letter, to promote the progress of musical life in Sweden. In Konserthuset Stockholm's summer exhibition named by the motto, we open the door to the academy's fantastic 250 years of Swedish music history, but also its future.

A number of historical antiques take place in the exhibition; from busts and medals to stamps and vinyl collections. Hundreds of Swedish music profiles who have contributed to the Swedish music scene are also highlighted: Alice Tegnér, Benny Andersson, Jenny Lind and Birgit Nilsson are some of the well-known names participating in the exhibition.

The visitor will also have the opportunity to learn more about the Royal Swedish Academy of Music's ongoing initiatives. The think tank Unga tankar om musik (UTOM), the national program Singing Children and the initiative Living Music Heritage are each presented with an exhibition space.

In collaboration with the Royal Swedish Academy of Music.

The exhibition is open daily from 11 am–5 pm, 29 June–15 August and on the weekends from 21–22 August, 28–29 August and 4–5 September.
