Chamber Concert – Aurora Music Festival

Chamber concert with Aurora Chamber Orchestra, soprano Camilla Tilling and cellist Torleif Thedéen

The Aurora Music Festival 2019 in Stockholm is the third festival in Stockholm and the 45th Aurora Festival in Sweden.  At this concert,we will get to experience Swedish international star soprano Camilla Tilling in Villa-Lobos’ magical Bachianas Brasileiras for soprano and eight cellos. This music is inspired by Bach and by Villa-Lobos’ homeland of Brazil. We will also hear one of the great figures of Baroque besides Bach and Handel: Heinrich Biber.

Aulis Sallinen is considered one of the great Finnish composers after Sibelius. His third string quartet, entitled Some Aspects of Peltoniemi Hintrik's Funeral March, is a series of variations based on a Finnish folk melody. Tchaikovsky’s lovely Nocturne is from his collection of piano pieces, Opus 19. Here, we will hear it in an arrangement for cello and string orchestra. In conclusion, the Aurora Chamber Orchestra will perform Bartók’s joyful Divertimento for strings.

Since 2006, Aurora has gathered thousands of musicians, artists and international stars to perform classical music for over 100,000 listeners.

In cooperation with Aurora Music Festival.
