An exclusive concert with Senegal’s biggest musician and his ensemble Super Étoile de Dakar.

Winner of the 2013 Polar Music Prize Youssou N’Dour is one of Africa’s biggest and most influential musicians, both musically and socially. He has received numerous distinctions for his work, and has collaborated over the years with greats like Peter Gabriel, Sting, Tracy Chapman, Paul Simon, Bruce Springsteen and Wyclef Jean.

Youssou N’Dour’s music stems from the popular M’balax musical style, a genre shaped largely by Youssou himself. Youssou N’Dour is a composer, orchestral conductor and producer, and while he may be firmly rooted in the music and culture of Senegal, he constantly brings in new impressions and influences.

His powerful dedication to Pan-African social causes has made him an essential reference point, with assignments from organisations like Amnesty International, the UN and UNICEF. Legendary Rolling Stone magazine has called him “perhaps the most famous singer alive” in Africa, and in 2007, Time Magazine appointed him one of the world’s 100 most influential people.

Now, when Youssou N’Dour and his spectacular band Le Super Étoile de Dakar come to Konserthuset Stockholm for an exclusive concert, he is more relevant than ever: the latest singles “Nay”, “Mbeggeul is all” and “Be careful” topped the charts in his native Senegal and Gambia.
