The Royal Swedish Navy Band – Sea Pieces!
About the concert
På svenskaExternal organiser:
Welcome to the Chief of Navy’s Concert! For thousands of years, the sea has fascinated humankind, drawing us toward the horizon in search of the unknown. From the seafarers of antiquity and the Vikings’ voyages across the North Atlantic, via explorers such as Columbus, to our own time, the sea has carried ships and transported people across the oceans of the world.
The Navy’s close connection to the sea, and the sea’s vital importance to the Navy, runs deep. Under the baton of conductor Gunvald Ottesen, the band portrays the sea in a series of “Sea Pieces”. We will experience the many facets of the sea: its colours, movements and expressions. Grand orchestral masterpieces by Ralph Vaughan Williams meet Swedish interpretations of Evert Taube. Musical theatre artist Oscar Pierrou Lindén brings the sea to life, giving voice to the soul of the water in both word and song.
Join us for a concert entirely devoted to the magic of the sea.
