Chairs for sale
Åke Axelsson’s chairs from Grünewald Hall are now for sale.
The chairs in Grünewald Hall were created by the renowned Swedish interior architect, furniture designer and master craftsman Åke Axelsson (born 1932), and manufactured by the family-owned company Gärsnäs in Österlen, southern Sweden.
When the international fashion magazine Vogue ran a major feature on Axelsson, the clever headline read “The Chair Man” – a fitting tribute to a designer who has left a lasting mark on Sweden and is also recognised internationally.
The stackable armchair model is called Sonat, and it has been beautifully patinated by chamber music in Grünewald Hall since the early 1990s. Now that they are being replaced, you have the chance to buy one or more of these chairs – steeped in rich musical history.
