About the concert

På svenska

Ten Years of the RSPO Orchestra Academy. This concert features both this year’s academy students and former members of the Orchestra Academy – among them several musicians from the Royal Stockholm Philharmonic Orchestra.

Since 2016, the Royal Stockholm Philharmonic Orchestra has been home to an orchestra academy. The international RSPO Orchestra Academy is a one-year advanced programme for young musicians. The training is carried out in collaboration with the Department of Music and Art at Linnaeus University in Växjö. Under the guidance of the Royal Stockholm Philharmonic Orchestra’s section principals, the musicians receive intensive instruction – individually, in chamber ensembles, and in orchestral playing.

The participants also present themselves through a number of public chamber music concerts – such as this one, celebrating the Academy’s 10th anniversary. This year’s academy musicians perform together with members of the Royal Stockholm Philharmonic Orchestra and guest musicians. All of the performers (with the exception of double bassist José Moreira) are former members of the Orchestra Academy.
