Tomas Ledin’s Symphonia Politropou
About the concert
På svenskaWhen Tomas Ledin once again appears with the Royal Stockholm Philharmonic Orchestra, it is with a project that reflects both his long career and his curiosity about new forms of expression.
Following the success of Symphonia in 2022, Tomas Ledin returns to the Royal Stockholm Philharmonic Orchestra with Symphonia Politropou. Ledin’s beloved songs are given new life in new orchestral arrangements by Peter Nordahl, who also conducts the Royal Stockholm Philharmonic Orchestra. Symphonia Politropou will be released both as an album and as a Swedish tour.
“Symphonia Politropou is an expression from antiquity. Symphonia means harmony, and Politropou in another guise. I very much look forward to the concert,” says Tomas Ledin. For more than fifty years, Ledin has been one of Sweden’s most beloved artists. Many of his songs have become permanently etched in the musical memory of a large part of the Swedish public.
At Konserthuset, audiences will once again hear a selection of his songs – both obvious favourites and lesser-known gems – in Peter Nordahl’s magnificent arrangements, which allow the full orchestra to envelop Ledin’s distinctive voice. The title also hints at the project’s central idea: transformation rather than repetition.
“Given the chaos in our world, many of these songs feel unusually urgent to perform. Peter Nordahl and I chose from my work from the 1970s onwards, and quite soon we noticed that it was pulling in a particular direction. To sing here, in Peter’s often breathtaking and deeply atmospheric arrangements, about embracing life, about the strength of community and inclusion, about the fact that we all have a choice, and about the many colours of love, is a privilege in every way,” says Tomas Ledin.
