About the concert
På svenskaThe German Amelio Trio has attracted considerable attention in recent years and performs, among other works, music by Robert Schumann.
Amelio Trio has been nominated by Elbphilharmonie Hamburg, Kölner Philharmonie, Barbican Centre and Philharmonie Luxembourg. Based in Germany, the trio consists of violinist Johanna Schubert, cellist Merle Geißler and pianist Philipp Kirchner. The ensemble was formed in 2012, when its members were just thirteen years old.
In recent years, Amelio Trio has received a number of awards, including the Grand Prize at the Deutscher Musikwettbewerb and First Prize at the International Schumann Chamber Music Prize in Frankfurt. Their programme includes, among other works, a newly composed piece by Swiss-Dutch composer Helena Winkelmann and Robert Schumann’s final piano trio – a work whose rarity in the repertoire is surprising, given the surging passion with which the music unfolds.
ECHO Rising Stars is a unique and forward-looking collaboration between 23 of Europe’s leading concert halls within ECHO – the European Concert Hall Organisation. Each year, a select group of young artists and ensembles from different countries is chosen and given the opportunity to tour the concert halls and meet an international audience. Experience shows that those selected as Rising Stars go on to enjoy successful international careers.
