STHLM Blue Tide – Ornament

In STHLM Blue Tide, we welcome what defies fixed categories – music and musicians that do not lend themselves easily to classification. Funeral Folk is a musical collaboration between Sara Parkman, Maria W Horn and Mats Erlandsson. Their debut album, Funeral Folk, was released in 2022, and their music has since been performed at festivals and venues across Europe.

What began as a collaboration between childhood friends Maria W Horn and Sara Parkman has gradually evolved into a trio, with Mats Erlandsson contributing zither, vocals and guitar. They are now preparing their second album, with the working title Ornament.

In their music, darkness and light meet, while ancient traditions merge with new sources of inspiration and modern technology. While their debut album centred on death and the different stages of grief, the new material explores themes of resistance and sorrow, wonder and transformation.
