Glenn Miller Orchestra – A Tribute to the Great Big Bands
About the concert
På svenskaExternal organiser
Welcome to a tribute concert celebrating the magnificent big bands that were active during the same era as Glenn Miller’s orchestra.
Swing music takes centre stage, along with the arrangements and the unmistakable Glenn Miller sound. Many of the arrangements were originally written for the Glenn Miller Orchestra, but this concert also features music from other great big bands, including those of Benny Goodman, Tommy Dorsey, Harry James, Artie Shaw, Duke Ellington, Count Basie, Jimmie Dorsey, Charlie Barnet, Les Brown, Gene Krupa, Woody Herman, and Cab Calloway.
Guest soloist is Klas Lindquist, who was, for 20 years, a member of both Jan Slottenäs Big Band and the Glenn Miller Orchestra Scandinavia.
The Glenn Miller Orchestra Scandinavia was founded in 2010 under license from Glenn Miller Productions, Inc., New York, U.S.A. Based in Stockholm and led by trombonist Jan Slottenäs, the orchestra tours regularly in Sweden, Norway, Denmark, and Finland. It includes several younger jazz musicians and is widely regarded as one of the leading Glenn Miller orchestras internationally.
