Polina Osetinskaya – Spring Concert

Internationally acclaimed pianist Polina Osetinskaya returns to Konserthuset Stockholm, this time with a solo programme featuring music by Bach, Beethoven, Franck and Rachmaninoff. At her most recent appearance here, in spring 2026, she performed with violinist Maxim Vengerov, with whom she has enjoyed a long-standing chamber music partnership.

This time, we hear her in Rachmaninoff’s piano arrangements of three movements from Bach’s third partita for solo violin, as well as Harold Bauer’s arrangement of César Franck’s Prélude, Fugue et Variation, originally written for organ.

At the heart of the programme is Beethoven’s penultimate piano sonata, Opus 110. The music is expressive and reflective, at times brutal, but also humorous and life-affirming – almost an entire life story in itself. Osetinskaya also takes on Rachmaninoff’s supremely virtuosic Variations on a Theme of Corelli, based on the old dance melody La Folia.

Polina Osetinskaya attracted attention for her exceptional talent at an early age and began giving public concerts when she was just six years old. She has since built an extensive international career, appearing at venues including the Wiener Konzerthaus, the Berliner Philharmonie, Carnegie Hall, the Barbican Centre, Sydney Opera House and Teatro Colón. She has collaborated with conductors such as Teodor Currentzis, Dennis Russell Davies and Yan Pascal Tortelier, and has made numerous recordings for labels including Sony, Naxos and Melodiya.

Osetinskaya has condemned Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, a stance that has prevented her from performing in her home country. This concert at Konserthuset is her only solo appearance in Sweden in 2027.
