Michel Legrand – a French icon. Vivian Buczek with an ensemble led by Martin Sjöstedt in immortal music full of cinematic elegance and nostalgic warmth.

One of Sweden’s foremost jazz singers, Vivian Buczek – acclaimed both at home and abroad – returns to Konserthuset Stockholm with A Grand Affair, a heartfelt tribute to the French master composer Michel Legrand. Many remember his unforgettable music from the film The Umbrellas of Cherbourg. Now, as Vivian Buczek brings Legrand’s music to Konserthuset, she does so with an expanded ensemble of around ten musicians led by Martin Sjöstedt.

“I’ve always had a deep fondness for Michel Legrand and have long dreamed of interpreting his music in my own way,” says Buczek. “His melodies – often with lyrics by Alan and Marilyn Bergman – contain everything I want to express: romance, dynamism, melancholy and groove.”

With her powerful voice, stage presence and natural sense of swing, Vivian Buczek has established herself as one of the Nordic region’s most expressive jazz vocalists. She has collaborated with some of Sweden’s leading musicians, including Nils Landgren, Ulf Wakenius and Jan Lundgren, and her albums have been praised for their personal tone within the classic jazz tradition.
