FairPlay – Late Night with Bach
About the concert
På svenskaEnd the day by unwinding to the timeless music of Johann Sebastian Bach – a balm for the soul. Part of the tenth anniversary of the festival Fairplay Chamber Music.
The Spanish star violinist Pablo Hernán Benedí performs Johann Sebastian Bach’s Partita in D minor for solo violin, concluding with the celebrated Chaconne.
The Partita in D minor for solo violin was composed around 1720. The work consists of four dance movements leading to the famous Chaconne – often experienced as a monumental and self-contained work in its own right. Before this, the shorter dance movements introduce melodic cells that are ultimately transformed and deepened in the Chaconne. The music encompasses both contrapuntal complexity and a grand sense of development.
Pablo Hernán Benedí was born in Madrid in 1991. He has been a member of the internationally acclaimed Chiaroscuro Quartet since 2010, performing on gut strings in historically informed style. As a violin soloist, he has appeared with ensembles including the London Philharmonic Orchestra, and he is concertmaster of the Balthasar Neumann Orchestra – one of the world’s leading ensembles in historically informed performance.
