Lied Concert for Nobel Prize Laureates
About the concert
På svenskaJosefine Mindus and Arvid Fagerfjäll in music inspired by prize-winning authors.
In the Lied concert series, pianist Magnus Svensson invites an exclusive circle of artists from the world’s leading opera houses and concert stages, offering audiences the opportunity to experience their artistry in intimate encounters in Grünewald Hall.
This time, the theme is Nobel: musical settings of authors awarded the Nobel Prize in Literature, from Sully Prudhomme to figures such as William Butler Yeats, Pablo Neruda and Hermann Hesse. Composers including Gabriel Fauré, Edvard Grieg and Wilhelm Stenhammar appear alongside Nordic writers such as Bjørnstjerne Bjørnson, Erik Axel Karlfeldt and Verner von Heidenstam.
We hear the Swedish soprano Josefine Mindus, who studied, among other places, at the Hochschule für Musik in Hanover. She is engaged at the Hessisches Staatstheater Wiesbaden and has appeared at venues including the Komische Oper in Berlin and the Drottningholm Court Theatre. She is also active as a composer.
The Swedish baritone Arvid Fagerfjäll is known for his direct, expressive interpretations and versatile voice. He has performed at leading stages across Europe, forms an award-winning Lied duo with pianist Hikaru Kanki, and has been engaged at Theater Bremen since 2024. He was also one of the soloists in Mahler’s Das klagende Lied at the season opening at Konserthuset in 2025.
