About the concert

På svenska

The final encounter with the orchestra today is a concert brimming with energy, emotion and dance.

The Royal Stockholm Philharmonic Orchestra performs sparkling music for the whole family. We begin with Excelsior!, a powerful opening piece by Swedish composer Wilhelm Stenhammar. It’s music that lifts us straight into an adventure. Excelsior is a Latin word meaning “ever upward” or “still higher”.

Next comes dancing music by the Czech composer Antonín Dvorák. The music bubbles and swings – sometimes it almost feels like it’s bouncing along with the whole orchestra! These are sounds from Dvorák’s homeland, inspired by old folk dances. You might find it hard to sit still!

Petter Sundkvist conducts the Royal Stockholm Philharmonic Orchestra, and Konserthuset’s CEO Susanne Rydén is your host for the concert.

Please note

Strollers and prams cannot be brought into Konserthuset Stockholm and are best left at home. A designated stroller tent is set up outside the entrance, where prams can be left, subject to space availability.
