About the concert
På svenskaAward-winning Canadian jazz musician makes her Konserthuset debut.
The Canadian jazz trumpeter, vocalist and composer Bria Skonberg is a multi-award-winning artist. She has been described by The New York Times as “a shining hope for hot jazz” – that is, the traditional, intense and often fast-paced jazz of New Orleans. She has released several acclaimed recordings. Her seventh studio album, What It Means (2024), was described as “pure sonic euphoria” and received top ratings in DownBeat.
Bria Skonberg has performed on stages and at festivals around the world, including the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival, Monterey, Newport and Montreal, as well as in Kobe, Japan and Breda in the Netherlands. She has sung the music of Aretha Franklin alongside Michelle Williams of Destiny’s Child and performed with U2 at the iconic Apollo Theater. She has also recently appeared at Carnegie Hall in New York.
This marks her debut at Konserthuset, and she performs with her quartet. The programme will likely include material from her two most recent projects – the albums Brass (2026), with a focus on fiery trumpet playing, and Indigo (2026), centred on vocals and storytelling.
