Organ Evenings – Nightclouds

Swedish artist Ellen Arkbro is a boundary-crossing sound artist, composer and musician, now based in Berlin. Alongside her work with music composed in just intonation and with extremely balanced frequency relationships, she is also active as an organist.

Nightclouds is the title of an album of organ improvisations released by Ellen Arkbro in 2025, her fourth full-length album. It brings together recordings made on organs across Central Europe. The music follows a more Romantic vein, yet remains rooted in the precision that has become characteristic of Arkbro’s artistry. In Nightclouds, she continues her exploration of musical space and texture, with elements of the sacred, dreamlike minimalism and perhaps even a touch of meditative jazz.

Ellen Arkbro initially trained as a jazz singer before turning her focus to the Elektronmusikstudion and the Royal College of Music in Stockholm, where she completed a degree in electroacoustic composition. She has also studied privately with composers such as La Monte Young and Marc Sabat.
